Robert Scott from Oakland, California

Comment from a reader…

I wonder if the Robert Scott listed here was the founder of Scott Labs in Canada and lived in Mill Valley.

This picture was taken at Torbay in late 1943 or early 1944.

It was hidden for 68 years… in Walter Neil Dove’s photo album.

This is some precious picture for someone looking for Robert Scott from Oakland, California.

Robert Scott signed Walter Neil Dove’s logbook when Wally Dove got his transfer to RCAF No. 403 Squadron.

68 years later, I think we have found his son Bruce…

Well dear reader , this is it – we’ve finally reached the point in the logbook where the real action starts. In a recent post, we learnt that Dad received the news he had been posted to 127 Squadron. It seems this was quite exciting news for him as he used an exclamation mark at the end of the sentence: Received news that Lloyd and I were posted to 127 Sqd! I know from Dad’s later writing that he used the exclamation mark when he wanted to make a strong point or if it was interesting/exciting news.

The posting to 127 Squadron was pretty good timing actually. Dad’s birthday was April 8 and the first logbook entry for the 127 Squadron is April 7, 1943. His last day at No. 2 A.D.U. was April 4 so guess 127 Squadron was located reasonably nearby.

A spot of research tells me…
